Major Upcoming Events.

Port Moresby is set to host two(2) important events.

1. Port Moresby 2015 XV South Pacific Games.

Port Moresby will host the XV South Pacific Games from JULY 4th-18th 2015. The government has contracted companies to upgrade all the major sporting facilities within the city. There is a massive construction going on in the city to prepare for the event. The main Games Village is being constructed within the University of Papua New Guinea main campus. Once the facility is completed and used by the games participants it will be delivered to the University of Papua New Guinea for student accommodation.

South Pacific Games is a major sporting event for the countries in the South Pacific region and his held after every three(3)years.

2. 2018 (Asia Pacific Economic Corporation (APEC)Leaders Summit.

In the Bali, Indonesia APEC Leaders Summit, Papua New Guinea was voted to host the 2018 APEC Leaders Summit in Port Moresby. In preparation for these the government of Papua New Guinea doing major infrastructure developments within the city. Notable ones under construction include the following:

• Fly-Over road from Jacksons International Airport to the National Parliament house.
• Redevelopment and upgrade of Jacksons International Airport.
• Resort and Hotel development at Paga Hill in down town Port Moresby.
